Vistara Capital Partners provides highly flexible debt and equity financing solutions to growth stage technology companies across North America. Managed and funded by seasoned technology finance and operating executives, “Vistara” (sanskrit for “Expansion”) is focused on enabling the growth and expansion of the companies it partners with. Vistara was founded in 2015 and is currently investing out of its latest US$100M Vistara Technology Growth Fund III LP, building on success of its prior two funds.

As the Marketing & Communications Manager, you will help fuel further expansion at Vistara by growing our brand presence and increasing awareness. Your job is to apply your exceptional writing skills to share our story with our market, as well as attract and educate technology companies about Vistara’s unique solutions.

You will drive our content program, creating and curating a variety of content targeted at building awareness, and executing on marketing campaigns with our core team. You will also help manage Vistara’s public relations and investor relations activities. This is an opportunity to make your mark and have a foundational position in the growth of our business and development of our team.

In this position, you are leading all marketing and communications initiatives for the organization, with a mandate to build efficient processes, collaborative relationships, and a diverse library of content assets. Our ideal candidate is a highly organized and efficient marketer with exceptional writing skills, a flexible mindset, and a genuine eagerness to learn new things.

Responsibilities:

  • Define the scope of and manage all marketing projects
    • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders, including leadership, to identify current programs and initiatives, improve existing processes and workflows, and develop a comprehensive marketing program.
    • Find and implement a collaborative tool for content management that assists with scheduling, storing, managing and tracking all existing content and requests including an editorial calendar and audit schedule.
    • Build effective public relations and investor relations campaigns as additional channels to increase brand awareness.
  • Strategize and develop a wide variety of both new and existing content
    • Create and publish content including articles, brochures, presentations, reports, graphics, scripts, email campaigns, landing pages, white papers, case studies, social posts, and more.
    • Ensure all content is consistent, high-value, aligned with the Vistara brand and voice, optimized for search and relevant for its targeted audience and distribution path (e.g., LinkedIn, white papers, etc.).
  • Generate leads with targeted content and other marketing campaigns
    • Develop content for lead generation purposes including the creation of educational, targeted content through collaboration with leadership team.
    • Review campaign effectiveness regularly via analytical tools to set improvement goals, execute new best practice techniques  and track high-value content.
    • Partner with stakeholders and executives to ensure strategy and execution is exceeding business objectives and keeping up with competitor activity.
  • Assist the team with other projects to help our business grow
    • Identify valuable networking opportunities, including relevant conferences, speaking engagements, and industry events.

Requirements:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a Marketing & Communications Manager role (or similar)
  • Basic abilities with graphic (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite) and web design (e.g. WordPress) tools
  • Experience with customer relationship management (e.g. Salesforce, ZohoCRM) and digital marketing technology (e.g. Mailchimp, Google Analytics) an asset
  • Degree in Business, Communications or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills. Exceptional writing skills are essential
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment and take initiative
  • Analytical, detail-focused mindset
  • Experience marketing sophisticated products or services to sophisticated customers (e.g. legal, accounting or consulting services, banking, lending or investments, software or other technical products) an asset

As an Analyst based in our Vancouver head office, you are a key member of our investment team supporting all aspects of the deal process, from origination and due diligence to post-investment portfolio management. You will also assist with strategic initiatives to enable further expansion of Vistara, including optimization of fund systems and processes.

In this position, you will help source, evaluate, and monitor a variety of investment opportunities, gain strong industry and business model expertise, and develop your abilities as a private technology company investor. Our ideal candidate embraces a diverse role in an entrepreneurial organization where they will gain broad exposure to technology company transactions and private fund management.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Investment Origination, Evaluation & Execution:
    • Assist the Investment and Marketing teams in identifying and evaluating prospective investment opportunities and managing the deal pipeline through our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
    • Perform financial, strategic, and competitive analysis of prospective investments, including evaluating financial models and facilitating general due diligence efforts.
    • Develop and draft short and long form investment theses.
  • Assist with Portfolio Company Monitoring:
    • Consolidate and analyze performance and trends from portfolio company reporting.
    • Maintain up to date knowledge of industry trends and provide other relevant news to the investment team on an ongoing basis.
    • Assist with other periodic reporting, including LP and prospective investor data requests.
  • Collaborate on Strategic Initiatives:
    • Support fund operations, including liaising with Finance and Marketing around investor reporting and company data collection and tracking.
    • Optimize reporting from CRM, portfolio tracking, and internal & external communications through technology tools used by the team.
    • Other ad-hoc strategic initiatives including the assessment of new technology or processes to maximize overall team productivity.

Requirements:

  • Driven with ability to work as a core member of a small entrepreneurial team
  • 2-4 years of experience in roles such as: Investment – equity, venture, fund, or credit analyst; Professional Services – corporate finance, transaction services, or consulting; Operations – finance or corporate development at an operating company
  • Demonstrated interest in the technology industry
  • Familiarity with venture capital and/or subordinated/mezzanine debt structures an asset
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize large datasets into actionable insights
  • Operational mindset keen to optimize processes and productivity
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) required; experience with other technology systems including CRM an asset
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize
  • Accounting (CPA / CA) or Finance (e.g. CBV, CFA) designations an asset but not a requirement
  • Proactively solicits opinions and ideas. Curious and enthusiastic to learn and grow.
